Hi everyone and Happy Friday! I’m so excited to have a new on-going client. But also I’ve had a few bumpy moments for the last 2 weeks working with them. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy working with them and I love the work that I do very much! One thing that God has taught me as a Virtual Administrative Assistant that patience is so important. You got to have patience. Isn’t that one of the Fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22)? According to my knowledge, yes. I think at times, it’s not my weakness, but sometimes my hubby’s (lol, but he’s working on it).

Anyway, when it comes to a new client you do a particular, stable project for and they keep having problems on their end, you have to wait and bare with them. Remember, it’s not your fault. Just pray for them, that things will continue to go well in their company. It would not be wise to leave them too soon, because you would probably miss out on a great opportunity. What if the client decide they want to give you higher pay? What if they want to promote you to a front-end something? Stay patient with your client in everything they do. They would really appreciate it!

Just as some may say that Mother’s Day is only for mothers; it can be for  anyone who has raised you. It can even be for your wives who are great mothers to your children. It is a true blessing to have someone who gave birth to you (for the birth mommies), raised you, nurtured you, cared for you and encouraged you. I am thankful to have a wonderful mother who I’ve learned so much from who did these things. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have been the mommy I am today. God has really blessed her to still be alive today. If you have a mother, never be too old to treat her right. Always respect her and your reward will truly come and what comes with that is a long life to live. This Mother’s Day, take her out somewhere special. Show her a great time. Whatever you do, spend time with her because she really deserves it.

As far as my VAA business goes, everything has been well and I am blessed to have a client who I’m doing a permanent customer service rep project for for only 4 hours and 5 days a week from home. This is what I was looking for and it feels great to work at home again. Now I am able to get off work and walk down to pick up my son from his bus stop. I am looking forward to working with the company in the future and I’m sure things will go well. I think I’m a great mother to my 9 1/2 - year old son. Sometimes I play with him, motivate him, encourage him, help him and sometimes challenge him to do better. I even take the time to tell him I love him because I am happy to be an ‘imomma’ and a CWAHM as well! Have a great Mother’s Day weekend everyone and a blessed one too! :)

Hello there. I can’t believe this y’all. I just wanted to tell you about what happened to me through this week. Please be aware of your dealings online. Ok, this is what happened. One day last week, I posted an ad to advertise my freelance services. 2 days later, I received about 3 replies. The day after, there were 4 replies. I was so excited to see I had responses to my ad on Craigslist! Then I noticed something as I read each one of them, they all had either “Are you still looking for work?” or “Are you still looking for work? Please text me xxx-xxx-xxxx so that I can give you more details on the job” or “Are you still looking for work? Please provide me with your email so I can give you more details about the job”. It seemed like it came from the same person, but I went ahead anyway and did what they said to do. I wanted to try 3 out of the people who wanted me to text them and 1 of them was a lady who happened to be a man when I invited him to go on an IM program. He wanted to add me on Yahoo so I went ahead and listened to what he was offering me to do. Then when he said he needed checks to be printed for him, I was like ok. That seems fine. Then he goes on about the job and how I will get paid. I had to ask many questions because I was very skeptical, since I’ve been scammed before. Then, when he mentioned fake checks, I was like what? He told me not to worry about it. Well I was worried. To make it short he wanted me to go that night to Office Depot and buy check papers. I was thinking something wasn’t right. Want to know why? Here’s why: 1. He gave me 2 names of who he was - 1 in the texting and 1 on Yahoo, 2. He never gave me his location when I kept asking him until I added him to Skype, 3. He told me he wanted me to print out fake checks (that was obvious), 4. He says I do not need an IC Agreement (which in all of my freelance jobs I always have to have one), 5. He claims he has a website which is being worked on, 6. I could not find neither names that corresponded with his business name, 7. Even though I am supposingly saw him on Skype video chat, he could have gotten someone else to be him. All of this brought a red flag for me. So I had to cut him off the next day from all communication and threatened to contact the FBI.

The other 2 ppl who text me on the other hand in which one of did the same thing and the fake check scam and mail/online shopping tasks job were both scams. Thanks to God and my hubby for letting me know, I still wouldn’t have fallen for it because I’ve been through so many times where I had been scammed. My hubby told me he saw on tv where a guy had been scammed and went to prison because of this Ghanaian guy got him to print out fake checks for him. So the next time I come across something like this in my email, it will automatically be deleted!  If they would have followed my directions in my ad (serious inquiries only, please reply with your name, number and the type of services you need. If you do not do so, you will be considered a scammer!), it would of been  acceptable. Make sure to do your research like I did by searching for the name of the person with the business. Sometimes they use a legal business and a fake name to make themselves look good. And they could also be using a stolen identity’s name! Don’t even give out your personal information either. The devil is a liar! Don’t fall into that trap! Do your research people! That’s if for now. Have a blessed weekend :)

Hello guys, I am back again and would like to say I had a wonderful, awesome Easter weekend. It’s not all about the Easter bunny, Easter clothes and shoes you know. But about the resurrection of Jesus Christ and that’s why it’s worth celebrating. It’s great to take the time to go to church and hang out with your family.

Anyway, I would like to give some encouragement about getting clients and being patient. Want to know why I am writing this? Because I needed the encouragement myself. It is really hard when you are a part-time freelance mom and everything that went well in your business went down. Then you are like ‘why me’? What if you were in a situation when you have had 3 clients: 1 that you posted ads for, 1 that you have worked with managing ebooks for and another that you virtual admin work for? That would be great if it was ongoing. You would be satisfied if all 3 of them offered more tasks for you. Suddenly, you chat with your clients via email or Skype and they tell you they no longer have anymore tasks for you to do. What would be your reaction? Of course you would be disappointed and think, ‘oh boy, I have to end up going back to the drawing board again’. It would really be frustrating especially if you were to make freelancing a living. It’s always good to do it as side work or part-time work along side of your primary job until you are permanently working for a huge company that has been in business for at least 4+ years.

My goal is to do customer service rep work part-time and do my business on the side until I can find a company that needs me permanently. This time, my decision is to get a client who is a medium to large company, because if you were to work with an individual, you may not guarantee you will be working with them any longer. I have learned my lesson. I would rather work for a huge firm than to work for an individual that is in for business for himself and does not pay well. So the next time you are out of work, here’s what you should do:

1. Don’t panic. Please don’t do that. It will make matters worse and cause too much stress on you. Instead, find other things to do such as freshen up your web- folio/portfolio or resume, take a walk or watch a movie.

2. Don’t do it all by yourself. Do you find doing things by yourself and it doesn’t work out? This is so important, but you really need to seek God for help. Only He gives the best decisions for you. Put those problems in His Hands. That’s what He is here for. Everything will work out for the good for those who love Him. Trust and believe in Him today!

3. Be consistent. When you are trusting in the Lord, you need to apply your faith. How do you do that? Keep submitting those proposals, posting ads to market yourself, and tell others about your business either on Facebook or in person (if you are more outgoing). Believe you will get the client(s) that offer more tasks. The more you believe, the more it will happen.

4. Be patient. By being patient and trusting in the Lord, you will need to stop constantly checking your email for client notifications. Trust me, I have been there done that. When you do happen to check your email and see a notification that a client has contacted you, praise God!

By applying these steps when you are in a situation where you’re at a dead end, it’s time to do something for the better. Maybe you have to change your way of doing business also. Maybe you are being tested as a way to gain strength. Maybe it’s to help you gain experience from the situation so that you can encourage other freelancers. Don’t worry, it will all work out. Look, I just encouraged you as well as myself remember?
